The phone rang and an invite was waiting on the other end. An invite is always a warm feeling. An invite from Paul Foglia, (area director PA region), brought that warmth as a flame. Paladar Latin Kitchen in King of Prussia, PA was the flame and we were the moth. We at Posh Foody Lifestyles were instantly drawn as we researched Paladar Latin Kitchen and saw the creativity they offered!
Anthony - creator & founder of Posh Foody Lifestyles, along with special guest Erika, accepted the offer and here is our experience! Oh, as a vegetarian and someone who is gluten free, Erika had a variety of options!!
We want to start off by thanking Area Director Paul Foglia - General Manager Joe Dilio - Exec. Sous Chef Gary Drozel - Exec. Chef Nelson Rodriguez - Mixologist Guru Mike Cullen - and a huge thank you to Server Extraordinaire Emily Hague! Last, but certainly not least, there is Darnel! Darnel made our review such a fun and delightful experience! We thank all of you!
We were told as we sat that our experience at Paladar Latin Kitchen would take us on a trip around South America, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. That's a very bold claim; so let us begin!
Paladar has many rum options. They also have flights and will help lead you on the right path to finding which rum you fancy the best!
Paladar takes pride that everything is made in-house!
Paladar has won the Guac-Off in Philadelphia, PA 4 times and are going for their 5th in March '23. This is when some of the best restaurants come together to compete for the title of best Guacamole. For a very small fee you can sample all the different takes on Guac from all the competitors! For more info click the link: https://mannapa.org/event/guac-off-2022/
A major option that sets Paladar aside from the many others is the " CRAFT-YOUR-OWN GUACAMOLE" - the guac on its own is fresh, creamy and seasoned perfectly, but then you are able to customize your guac with so many options. These are not just random additions, but carefully selected items that will compliment the guac regardless of what you add. We added the following: pickled jalapenos, candied pumpkin seeds, roasted garlic & chipotle honey!
Next! Queso Fundido and Brazilian Cheesy Bread.
Queso Fundido -
Anthony has had Queso Fundido at many places and this is in the top 3! The Queso was smooth and had plenty of the "good stuff" throughout. The options of chips: plantain, malanga & tortilla, also makes this a delight. Anthony's favorite was the Malanga which is a root veggie. It is more nutrient dense than potato: low in fat, high in fiber, and low on the glycemic index.
Brazilian Cheesy Bread - w/ chipotle honey
Unbelievably unbelievable!!! Yes, that best describes them! They are that authentic & yummy! Add the house-made Chipotle Honey and you will wonder how it could possibly get any better heading into the rest of the evening! Oh, but it does!!!
It's about to get serious with the main courses!
Feijoada Stew -
Pork, chorizo, black beans, sofrito vegetables - (a mix of aromatics like peppers, onions, garlic, and herbs), kale, white rice, Cuban bread. This stew was so hearty and authentic! As you can see from the pictures, we were able to get 4 servings from one order without sacrificing a single ingredient!!
Chimichurri Steak Churrasco -
Grilled hanger steak, boniato fries, garlic confit, sofrito vegetables, queso fresco. Anthony is a steak enthusiast and his steak came out med-rare as requested! Seasoned perfectly!
Portobello Mushroom Grill -
Marinated portobello mushrooms, ancient grains,
sautéed garlic kale, chimichurri, hearts of palm. Chimichurri is an uncooked sauce found mainly in Argentina and has a "bright" herbaceous flavor. Erika found the Portobello grilled just right which went well with the sauteed garlic kale!
Argentinian Mixed Grilled -
Beef tenderloin, mojo-marinated grilled chicken, chorizo sausage, grilled vegetables, chimichurri, rice pilaf, grilled tortillas took Anthony to cloud 9! Anthony having so many of his favorite flavors on one dish made an everlasting smile!
Crispy Whole Red Snapper -
Wild-caught, pickled red onions, Salvadorian slaw, corn tortillas, garlic pasilla,(pepper), aioli, garlic chili oil. This is a dish that is hard to find elsewhere, especially how it is done here. Chef Rodriguez said that as he ate this regularly in Ecuador, he said the best part of the Snapper are the cheeks! I tried and I agree!
** PFL FUN CHALLENGE **
Anthony went around and had found someone who said they do not like fish. He asked if they would be willing to try the Snapper. They said, "sure, what's the worse that could happen?" Anthony asked Chef Rodriquez if he would prepare a taco for them. He did and, wait for it, they "LOVED" the Snapper!!! That's the absolute best compliment and validation a chef/restaurant could ever receive! This is why it's among the best seller of Paladar!
El Cubano Sandwich -
Mojo pork, ham, house pickles, Swiss cheese, spicy brown mustard. This sandwich seems like it just flew in from Cuba! It was accompanied with Yucca fries. Do yourself a favor and ask for the Yucca fries! Anthony couldn't stop munching on the delightful crispiness!!
Those were just a few of the many menu items we enjoyed! We will be back to share the rest with you!!
Dessert
Sweet Potato Doughnuts -
Bite-sized with caramel coffee sauce, honey, spiced almonds. Anthony never had sweet potato doughnuts. He had 5!!! Belly full?! Could there possibly be any more room in his belly?! Read on....
Coconut Flan -
Coconut custard, caramel sauce. So smooth & creamy! Notice how fresh the strawberries were on the top!!
Rum Butterscotch Bread Pudding -
Spiced almonds, butterscotch rum syrup, golden raisins, vanilla ice cream. Anthony, after the first bite, decided to take several more sharing that the texture and flavor was the perfect ending to an incredible sitting!!!
We at Posh Foody Lifestyles are very selective of the places we share with all of you around the country & world! Paladar Latin Kitchen allowed us to share a variety of Latin dishes that would be held in the highest of standards from the regions the dishes originated!
We were told at the beginning that our journey of dishes will take us from Mexico to Argentina, Ecuador, Cuba, Puerto Rico and that's exactly what Paladar Latin Kitchen did!! What a journey it has been and we are now heading to their other restaurants to take you back around the world for authentic Latin flavors!!!
Thank you to all of you for joining us at Paladar Latin Kitchen!!
