North Italia contacted Posh Foody Lifestyles and asked if we would like to visit their King of Prussia, PA location. We rarely turn down an opportunity to accept an invitation when a restaurant claims to make all their dishes in-house and from scratch. Bold claims that we determine whether worth the visit or not.

Posh Foody Lifestyles founder Anthony along with very special guest, Erika, made the journey to North Italia. As always we will deliver our experience with care.

We start by saying that it is true when North Italia claims to make all their dishes in-house and from scratch. This can be witnessed by all that visit since the kitchen is open and you can watch as your dishes are being prepared.

What we also experienced was that each dish had a uniqueness to them without changing the authenticity of the dish. What do we mean by that? Well, here is an example.

Garlic bread. Most know what garlic bread is and how it should be prepared. Those at North Italia took the classic which it calls, "White Truffle Garlic Bread", to the next level while keeping it a garlic bread.

This garlic bread is prepared on their fresh baked bread which is a great start. Then they use EVOO, garlic and herbs for the base. Now this is what makes it their own. They top it off with a house made ricotta, mozzarella, grana padano (similar to parmigiana romano).

So they were able to make their own version of a garlic bread without taking away from what a garlic bread should be.

This was important to explain since this is the approach that North Italia has for all their dishes. This is why we are recommending that you visit North Italia.

All dishes made from scratch, classic dishes with unique flavors and signature dishes that change often; all of these will make visiting North Italia multiple times an easy choice.

What we experienced was a classic setting and pleasant staff. Our waitress had the answers to all our questions. This is a direct connection to management and how they care about all aspects of this restaurant.

We were served just about every dish on the menu. They do have a pizza that was crispy, light and flavorful but we would recommend that you try one of their other dishes before the pizza. We say that since pizza is readily available anywhere where the dishes of North Italia are not. With that said, if you are craving pizza theirs is light, crispy and full of flavor. They have a variety to please any type you want.

Erika, as you will see in the video, enjoyed the Grilled Branzino entrée which is the highest of compliments. Being a native of Malta, a small island just south of Italy, she knows all about fresh fish and thoroughly enjoyed it here.

Some of the other dishes we had were:

SQUID INK TONNERELLI:

tiger shrimp, calamari, wild fennel pollen, mint, spicy    tomato sauce - the squid ink added a flavor to the pasta that enhanced the overall taste of the dish

WILD SHRIMP SCAMPI:

blistered tomato, grana padano, garlic confit, herb butter, charred lemon, grilled bread - served in a cast iron skillet. Dipping your bread in the sauce is a must!

CRISPY BOCCONCINI:

fresh mozzarella, provolone, fennel pollen, spicy vodka sauce - this was a favorite of Anthony's. The breading and the sauce made this dish a must for all cheese lovers!

ITALIAN MEATBALLS:

creamy polenta, rustic marinara, grana padano - the meatballs themselves were above average, but the polenta complimented them in a way that made this more than just "meatballs"

SEASONAL VEGETABLE:

grilled asparagus, avocado, broccolini, sweet corn, heirloom cherry tomato, fregola, goat cheese, pistachio, italian herb vinaigrette - this was fresh and a great combination of veggies!

BOLOGNESE (HOUSE SPECIALTY):

traditional meat sauce, tagliatelle, grana padano, evoo - This sauce was hearty and a meal in itself. As hearty as it was it did not weigh down the pasta. Very flavorful and is definitely a house special

PORCHETTA:

slow-roasted pork, fregola, braised greens, roasted garlic, citrus, fennel - pork was tender and packed with flavor!

That was just a few of the items we enjoyed that night. There were also the specialty drinks which we had with dessert.

oh, and the desserts were sooooo good.

BOMBOLINI:

(italian donuts) vanilla budino, strawberry coulis - Anthony's favorite. Comes out warm and oozing with a decadent vanilla custard!

The only feedback we had was that the Butter cake dessert was too dense.

Anthony had visited unannounced since and ordered the cake. Much lighter and enjoyable! We feel this was a small oversight and was corrected immediately.

This is another reason we recommend North Italia. They genuinely listened, recognized the issue and corrected it.

If you read this before watching the video or looking at the pics; you will understand why we wanted to let all know of our experience at North Italia!!
